13th October 2013 – 2 Timothy 2:8-15

The 13th October saw the baptism of Louis, Paul and Maarten Dardare during the service and the talk from Revd. Martin Poole focussed on the key message of the gospel as passed on from Paul to Timothy and how this relates to an important initiation such as baptism.

This passage contains some early attempts at some sort of creedal statement by the church, especially in this phrase:

Let’s remember Jesus Christ
Raised from the dead
Descended from David

Baptism is a time to remember where we have come from and what our heritage is whilst we go through q kind of symbolic death to be reborn of water and the spirit.
