22nd September 2013 – Luke 16:1-13

Our guest speaker this Sunday was Revd. Richard Jackson, Diocesan Adviser on Mission & Renewal who had been with us all weekend to lead us in our parish weekend at home.

Richard spoke about the parable of the Shrewd Manager (sometimes known as the cunning steward).

At first sight Jesus seems to be saying that it’s OK to be dishonest but Richard showed us that at heart it’s a parable of the gospel as it is essentially about a God who is prepared to pay the price of the consequences of our dishonesty.  Our mission is to be those who live in the knowledge of that and that people will see this and be drawn to God.

You can hear his talk here Luke 16_1-13

There is a beautiful Graham Kendrick song which echoes these themes which you can hear here.
