We have a monthly pattern of Sunday services here at St. Luke’s.
8.30am Book of Common Prayer service.
These are usually communion on 2nd and 4th Sundays in the month and Morning Prayer all other Sundays.
The 4th Sunday service is followed by breakfast.
10.30am is our main service:
- 1st Sunday – Family communion. A very informal service with lots of things for the children to do and take part in.
- 2nd Sunday – What we call a Morning Celebration. Children go out to separate groups early in the service while those remaining in church have a moderately in depth talk and some worship.
- 3rd Sunday – Communion. Similar to the Morning Celebration but including communion.
- 4th Sunday – Morning Celebration as above.
6.30pm we hold an evening service most Sundays.
- 1st and 2nd Sunday – Compline including all the lectionary readings.
- 3rd Sunday – Study service. This is an opportunity to go into depth and explore one theme in detail and consists of a 45 minute talk and a short communion. Currently we are studying the 39 articles of religion.
- 4th Sunday at 4pm – Carpenter’s Arms. This is a drop in for homeless and vulnerably housed folk. The church is open from 4pm for tea, coffee, board games, movies etc. There is usually some entertainment and a talk at 6pm and everyone is served a hot meal at 6.30pm.
In addition at present we hold a parish prayer meeting on the 1st Sunday of the month at 8pm.
