Cell Questions- Generosity.
Week commencing 17th September 2007
Cell Questions- Generosity.
1. “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. Do you truly believe
that? If you have struggled with this idea have you prayed about it?
Have other members of your group overcome the same approach? Share
openly.
2. How do the Biblical examples such as Abraham help you?
3. Were you caught up in the recent Northern Rock Bank problems? How
did you react? How would you have reacted if you had been involved?
Were those rushing to withdraw money taking the view that they were not
stewards but owners?
4. One Northern Rock customer who withdrew his money was interviewed
afterwards. He was thinking of keeping his money “under the mattress”.
Does this story make you more sympathetic to the third servant who
buried his master’s money?
5. What effect does our culture and upbringing have on our attitude to
money and generosity? After the Chancellor gave cast-iron assurances
over the security of the savings in Northern Rock, the only queues the
following day were at the Golders Green Branch.
6. Share examples of where you have been blessed when you have been
generous – remember generosity is not only about money; giving time,
hospitality, a listening ear, free advice within your field of
expertise are all examples of generosity of spirit.
