Inspired, Young, Christian
At St Luke's we have a vibrant and active youth work for 11 to 18s. We seek to provide relevant teaching on subjects that influence and concern today's young people.
Our main group for 11-14 year olds meets alongside our 10.30am Sunday morning service. We use use discussion, drama and games to explore what it means to be a young person and a Christian. Once a month we have a 'Hot Topics' session where we discuss any issue raised amongst the group and search for God's answers together.
We also run a Discipleship Group. This currently runs on a Tuesday between 6.30 and 7.30pm. This is a Bible study/discussion group that looks deeper into scripture, 'pulling the word apart' to enable application to life today.
Social programme
The J Team also enjoy a varied and active programme of local social and sporting events. This includes fortnightly Friday evening games nights in the hall (space to relax, play pool, watch videos, other games and our amazing tuck shop), visits to the cinema, ten pin bowling and loads of other things as well. We also attend many local and national Christian events.
Our contribution
Many of our young people are actively involved in the life of our church, their schools, as well as the community as a whole. Over the last forteen years we have run a residential holiday club, towards which the young people have been major contributors.
